Prompt of the Month: October

Circe, a brunette in a transparent blue gown, sitting in a chair with two lion's heads on its arms, a cup in one hand and a staff in the other. Behind her is a mirror where Ulysses can be seen kneeling in front of her.
Circe Offering the Cup to Ulysses by John William Waterhouse

The second installment in our "Prompt of the Month" series is here! This month, write a work that features a character or figure—mythological or historical—that is usually cast in the background. Email anything you create to coltonreview@email.meredith.edu by November 15 and we will post it here on our blog next month! Anything we receive will be posted, barring offensive or discriminatory content.

If you love what you write and want it to be considered for inclusion in The Colton Review: A Journal of Art & Literature as well, check out our "submit" page right here on our website.

Happy writing!
